I have been working with the second grade homeroom teacher in coordinating art projects with the students weekly scholastic news magazines that they are completing in class. This week second grade was learning about astronauts and space. So I thought it would be fun to make an outer space project.
First, I had students draw the Astronaut from 'Art Projects for Kids - How to Draw Book' (https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/How-to-Draw-eBook-3016698). Then I had them cut out their astronaut and leave a border around the edge. Last, I had students glue their astronauts to a black piece of card stock paper and then add space details with Chalk Pastels.
I love how the projects turned out and the kids had a blast making them!
Chalk Pastel Tip: Give the students baby wipes to wipe their hands with!
